Family Involvement
Head Start recognizes parents as the child’s first and most important teacher. Head Start provides many opportunities for parent involvement, including classroom volunteer, parent committee leadership, monthly parent meetings and governance.
Did you know that Head Start supports the “We Read Every Night” program ? Head Start parents report more than 90% read at least 15 minutes every day to their children.
Did you know that all Head Start centers work for a successful transition of their pre-K children to their home elementary school? Activities include special parent meetings, summer activity journals, field trips to the local elementary school, open-house for school staff, and individual planning for children as needed.
Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children.
