Job Title : Food Services Specialist

Job Summary:

Responsible for assuring the delivery of quality food services operation for assigned centers in order to meet the nutritional needs of enrolled children and comply with state and county standards.

Maintains awareness of changing Office of Child Care Licensure, Child and Adult Care Food Program, State Fire Marshall and School Lunch Program regulations. Develops and implements training for cooks and food service workers and provides on-going support to center staff.  Participates in evaluation of job performances of cooks and food service workers. 

Observes and evaluates the implementation of mealtime practices, hygiene and sanitation in classroom, calls attention to non-compliance areas and participates in developing plan for change with center staff.  Works cooperatively and supportively with the nutritionists, Health and Nutrition Services Specialists and the cross department team.


Minimum Qualifications: 1. Educational/Experience Requirements:

A.Must possess a BA or BS in Health Education, Nutrition, Food Services, or closely related field.    And a minimum of two years experience in a nutrition/ food service management/ health field and 1 year of supervisory or monitor experience.

OR

B. AAS in Health Education, Nutrition, Food Services/Management or closely related field and a minimum of 4 years experience in the nutrition/food service field and 3 years of supervisory experience.

Must possess:

  • strong observation and communication skills.

  • Ability to assume responsibility in carrying out assigned duties.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work/relate to children, parents, and personnel from a variety of social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include more than an eight hours day.
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills, use of spreadsheet and word processing.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to make mathematical calculations
Transportation Requirement:
A. Possess a valid Arizona driver license and excellent driving record.  Attach to application a copy of current, valid Arizona license and three-year driving record obtained from Motor Vehicle Division.

B.Must be able to travel extensively to and from various sites within their own assigned area daily in private vehicle. Must provide a copy of state-required proof of insurance issued by insurance companies every six months.  Attach current proof to application.
C. Must be able to travel outside their assigned area in company-owned vehicle.  This travel could begin before daylight hours and continue after sundown in some situations.



Federal, State, County, Legal/Licensing Requirements:
  1. Possess a valid health card from appropriate County Health Department.
  2. Provide proof of immunizations for childhood diseases (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Diphtheria, and Tetanus, commonly known as MMR/DT) and must provide a clear Tuberculosis test or chest X-ray.
  3. Able to pass a company paid physical exam.
  4. Able to pass a FBI fingerprint and criminal record check.
  5.  Must be able to prove the right to work in the USA by providing appropriate documents to complete the Federal I-9 form.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand Spanish
  • Prior experience in working with Child and Adult Care Food Program and School Lunch Program
  • Knowledge of Community Resources such as WIC, Food Plus, AHCCCS.
  • Prior experience in using the Nutrikids computer program.



Salary: $$1,162.40 Bi-Weekly,   40 Hours per week, 52 Weeks per year
