Job Summary:

This is an entry-level part-time position that provides classroom, food service, and custodial support to various Head Start centers as needed. Candidate must be flexible to work different daytime and week day shifts or at different locations within the same community from one day to the next. When necessary, may require a long term assignment to cover for another employee on leave of absence or for an open position until filled.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED AND a strong desire to learn appropriate child development techniques.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Locations Served:  North Pima and Santa Cruz counties

Salary:

Housed Substitute  Grade 18-1 $8.43/hour – first 384 classroom hours.
Housed Substitute 384   Grade 21-1 $9.08/hour – upon completion of 384 hours or documented classroom experience totaling 384 hours or more at time of hire

Working hours per week depend on center needs – 25-hours/week minimum
                                                             
Part Year Assignments - Mid July through mid May (42.2 working weeks per year)

Full Year Assignments – 52.4 weeks per year                                                         

Benefits: Housed substitute positions are eligible for paid holidays (21 paid holidays for part year assignments and 23 paid holidays for full year assignments) if scheduled to work before and after the holiday.
